Privacy Policy for Nightlight
Last updated: September 23, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Nightlight ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and discloses information when you use our mobile application (the "App").
1. Information Collection
We do not knowingly collect or store any personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, or phone number directly. Some information may be collected by third-party services as described below.
The App does not access your contacts, camera, microphone recordings, location data, or personal files.
Your settings, saved sound mixes, and a record of which sounds you play most often (used to suggest sounds in the App) are stored only on your device. They are not sent to us or to anyone else, and they are removed when you uninstall the App or clear its data.
2. Optional Notification Access
The App's optional "Phone audio" feature lets Nightlight's play button and sleep timer control music or podcasts playing in another app on your device. To do this, the App checks whether audio is currently playing, without identifying what it is.
If you choose to grant Nightlight notification access, the App uses it only to find the media player you used most recently so that it can start, pause, or resume playback. Nightlight does not read, store, or share the content of your notifications, and no information obtained through this permission leaves your device.
Notification access is never required to use the App and is not offered in Kids Mode. You can turn it off at any time in your device settings under notification access.
3. Third-Party Services
The App uses third-party services that may collect information used to identify you. The privacy policies of these third-party service providers are linked below:
- AdMob (Google):We use AdMob to display advertisements. Google may use your device's advertising ID to serve ads. Depending on your region and consent choices, ads may be personalised or non-personalised. You can manage ad personalisation settings through your device or Google account. Google Privacy Policy
- RevenueCat: We use RevenueCat to manage in-app purchases, including the purchase that removes advertisements from the App. RevenueCat may collect anonymous data related to purchases and entitlements in order to validate transactions and restore access across devices. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
4. Log Data
In the case of an error in the App, we may collect data and information (through third-party products) on your device called Log Data. This Log Data may include information such as your device Internet Protocol ("IP") address, device name, operating system version, the configuration of the App when using the Service, the time and date of use, and other diagnostic statistics.
5. Data Retention
We do not retain personal data ourselves. Any diagnostic, advertising, or purchase-related data is retained according to the policies and retention practices of our third-party service providers.
6. Children’s Privacy
The App is suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Advertisements are not shown in Kids Mode. If you believe that a child has provided personal data through a third-party service, please contact us and we will assist with resolution.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
